MAGICA White Paper

MAGICA Consortium has published a White Paper which can be downloaded clicking on this link.

The paper presents a brief explanation of how the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) antenna plays a critical role in achieving accurate positioning for an autonomous vehicle. The accuracy of GNSS positioning depends on various factors, including the quality of the antenna used. A high-quality GNSS antenna can improve positioning accuracy, reduce signal interference and increase the number of satellites that can be tracked, leading to better reliability and availability of positioning information.

Apart from that, the paper also describes the typical requirements of this kind of antennas and shows the results achieved of the MAGICA antenna, as an example of a high performance antenna.  These results include the measurements of the radiating element or passive antenna, the RF front-end amplifier and the entire antenna system (active antenna). Moreover the performance of the MAGICA antenna system has been evaluated at three diferent levels. 1. Antenna in free space condition; 2. Antenna integrated in vehicle; 3. Antenna + High-precision GNSS receiver.
